Black Bean Brownie Cookies

Yup, I tried them. The ones that have been going around Pinterest and FaceBook. I have the pictures to prove it!

I was really excited to try something that sounded so yummy and so healthy. Really, nothing bad in them! So without further adieu, here we go!

First, rinse a can of beans REALLy well!

And into the food processor! Along with the oil, peanut butter, milk, and honey. Process until smooth.

Then add the dry ingredients: Cocoa powder, flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Process again until it resembles a think mousse.

Next, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and drop some batter on there. Bake for about 10 minutes, and they should come out soft. Looking like this:

Now, maybe it’s because I knew what was in them, but all I could taste was black beans. My kids however, ate them all. Next time, I think I will add a little more cocoa powder, and a little less cinnamon, and possibly a banana. Banana’s are great at masking tastes!

So here is the recipe (with my changes) that I used:

1-15oz can of black beans (or 1 1/2 cups cooked)

2 Tbsp grape seed oil (any oil will do)

2 Tbsp peanut butter (I used pumpkin seed butter so they could go to the nut free school)

2 Tbsp milk (or almond milk)

1/2 Cup Honey

5 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (I’m going to do 6 or 7 next time)

3 Tbsp any kind of flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

Bake in a 375*F Oven for about 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

Once I try the banana, I will come and update.

What to do With a Diaper Rash…

My kids, seem to have the WORST diaper rashes known to man! My Sweet Pea and my Tank have had the worst of it. Somehow, my little Bear hardly had any. When you hear me say ‘worst’, you probably think ‘she’s SO over exaggerating!’  What I mean when I say it, it red front to back, with little sores that bleed if you try to wipe, so you end up putting your kid in the tub EVERY single time you need to change them!  Poor Tank today doesn’t even want to sit in the tub because it hurts so bad.  No fun! For the water bill, or for the poor kid! And guess what? I have tried it ALL I’m pretty sure! SO many butt creams, essential oils, milk baths, you name it!

This morning, I was looking for something else to try, and came across a lady who made her own oatmeal bath. It’s like the AVEENO packets that you can get. The ingredients on the AVEENO one are, get this, colloidal oatmeal. That’s it! Pretty great! BUT, why pay $8 or more for 8 packets, when you can just make your own?

So I did. I had some oatmeal kicking around. Usually do, so I threw it into my food processor and processed, and processed, and tested, and processed some more, until it was so fine that when you put a little in a glass of water, it turns kinda milky, with no chunks sitting on the bottom. I then added some Young Living Lavender Essential Oil, and processed some more. Lavender oils is VERY soothing, and easy on skin. I only recommend Young Living because it is 100% pure, and the way it is distilled makes it the most concentrated oils on the market.

SO, after a 20 minute or so, soak in the tub, my Tanks bottom is looking very pink. No longer red! Could this be the answer? Something so easy and cheap?  I recommend you try it! Even without the lavender, I’m sure it would work just fine!
