Yup, I tried them. The ones that have been going around Pinterest and FaceBook. I have the pictures to prove it!
I was really excited to try something that sounded so yummy and so healthy. Really, nothing bad in them! So without further adieu, here we go!
First, rinse a can of beans REALLy well!
And into the food processor! Along with the oil, peanut butter, milk, and honey. Process until smooth.
Then add the dry ingredients: Cocoa powder, flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Process again until it resembles a think mousse.
Next, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and drop some batter on there. Bake for about 10 minutes, and they should come out soft. Looking like this:
Now, maybe it’s because I knew what was in them, but all I could taste was black beans. My kids however, ate them all. Next time, I think I will add a little more cocoa powder, and a little less cinnamon, and possibly a banana. Banana’s are great at masking tastes!
So here is the recipe (with my changes) that I used:
1-15oz can of black beans (or 1 1/2 cups cooked)
2 Tbsp grape seed oil (any oil will do)
2 Tbsp peanut butter (I used pumpkin seed butter so they could go to the nut free school)
2 Tbsp milk (or almond milk)
1/2 Cup Honey
5 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (I’m going to do 6 or 7 next time)
3 Tbsp any kind of flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
Bake in a 375*F Oven for about 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
Once I try the banana, I will come and update.
